Help NO Spark and NO fuel out of the fuel pump
Ok I am new to the GW family, I was given a 84 GW GL1200 interstate. The guy said if you can get it running you can have it. So I started playing with it and there is no spark at all, and then I decided to check to there is fuel past the fuel filter but none coming out of the pump. Not sure if there is a safety  switch or what. Not sure where all the parts are that have to do with spark or what they look like. If you have pics that would help too

the fuel pump is interelated with the ignition circuit in that when the sparkplugs fire the fuel pump circuit is pulsed

first place you should check is the pulse generators and the kill switch on the handlebars

go to the index on the site and search thru previous posts in the ignition index

Welcome! It sounds like the bike has been sitting for a long time. All of the fuses good? If you have the fairings off, check to see if any rodents have chewed up the wiring. As NEO pointed out, switches get sticky and corroded. Especially the kill switch. Verify that ignition control switches and sensors are working properly with a test light or DVOM.

How would I check that, the bike has only been sitting for 4 months. Also here is another question, so I tried to start the bike it in gear and the clutch pulled in and the bike jumped but there was still no spark. I am glad i have a habit of holding the break down. #-O

Not sure what "check" you are asking about. If you're asking how to check the wires to see if the mice have been at them, you will need to remove the false tank to visually check most of the main wiring harness and connectors. There are also wire bundles and connectors inside of the fairing tunnel (where the forks are) that should be checked for problems. The fuses are mounted above the air cleaner housing, which is also inside of the false tank.

Check the clutch master cylinder reservoir for proper fluid level and clarity. If it has been sitting for too long, the fluid may be full of sludge. You may need to drain the fluid, clean the reservoir and then refill and bleed the clutch to get it working properly.

In this case I would make certain that the kill or stop switch on the right hand handlebar is in the run position, then I would check the kill switch for continuity at the ends of the wires to make sure the switch is good. This is a very unusual problem with a GL1200 but you need to start somewhere. Let us know what you find and then we'll try a next step.

Sorry I have not posted much since my last post, I work long hours being a Marine Corps Recruiter. But I fixed the bike today, The dog bone fuse fix Fixed everything. The first time I started the bike I sprayed starter fluid in it and the bike caught on fire inside where the carbs are, it was small and everything was ok, then I waited about 30 min and started again and everything runs great. I would like to thank everyone for your help yall have been great. Now I have to get my Class M endorsement again here in Washington then I will be on the road.

The class M will be a piece of cake I have been riding for years and I have passed the Va test and Cali test now I am in Washington St so I am going to go take that test. I dont have to take the motorcycle riding test because I have taken the Motorcycle safty course 3 different times. The basic riders course advanced course and the sports bike riders course. So I just have to take the writen test. I cant wait to start riding again
