Maxis Rear tire.
Just for your guys info, since im always looking for a cheaper tire to run on the wing myself.
Had to have a Maxis rear put on shortly before the NE Ky to Houston Tx trip we did recently. Cut the E3 to badly to run while away from home and no other tire around available to fit.
Tire handled fairly well in dry and wet except for wet tar snakes, which might as well be ice as far as this tire is concerned. It started out riding ok, but shortly began to feel like a brick as it got a few miles on it. Right now at about 4000 miles I might have another thousand left on it. It looked like it wasnt wearing at all for the first thousand then just started showing wear fairly fast.
To give it its due, most of the milage its got has been 75mph plus fully loaded two up interstate riding in hot weather. It has beaten a Dunlop 404 rear by a long way on mileage as I only got 2300 on those under the same conditions. And it handled better than the 404.
If your just puttering around home one up or even taking a trip one up and light load it may do a lot better than this one did. But if you plan on running hard two up and full weight load you can plan on about 5000 out of it, and not the best handling tire ive set on.

Plan to try a set a Shinkos next. Ive seen everything from reports of 6000 miles to 1200 miles on a Gl 1200 with good handling. For the price If i can get 8000 miles a set out of them and they handle well, and the fact my buddy has a tire changer, balancer, and lift right up the road so changing cost isnt an issue, Id be cheaper by a long shot on 2 sets of shinkos at 15000 or so than one set of E 3s at 10 to 13 thousand.

Dont get my wrong I love the E 3 but budget is a big issue for me and I ride a LOT of miles a year.

I really love my Shinko 230 tourmaster tires. However, I have been running them on my standard. Smooth, quiet, great traction/road grip and their inexpensive. 1K and showing no wear. I like the feel I get from these tires, no tracking on rain grooves and you can go into a turn really hot with confidence. Again I run these on my Standard w/solo seat.... so I can not speak to how they may handle a fully loaded 2-up ride. I leave that job to the E3s. :x

If i can get 8000 out of the Tourmasters and they handle like everyone says they do then thats probably going to be the tire i stay with.
