help with Back-Off instal

Like the title says. I cut the 3 green/white wires under the seat. The "back off" works (too well) in that it flashes 3 short and then 1 long and repeats. The problem is that it continues to do this after I release the brakes. I have confirmed that the brake lights work correctly without the device, the hang up is after my instalation (incorrect no doubt).

Any ideas? Help? '86 aspencade.

You should only be attaching the module to the top box lights, not the lower lights.

This means cutting and attaching the module to the ONE wire that feeds the brake lights in the top box only. Red towards the bike, and the white w/red strip wire towards the bulbs.
Plus the black wire connected to a ground/frame of the bike.

The bikes circuitry to the lower lights gets far more complicated, plus those lights should remain solid and not modulated like the top box lights.

Will do, I have all 3 wired. I will hit them with the heat and undo that wonderful soldering job I did :roll: and report my great accomplishment :?:

I recently had a problem where after making some changes it seemed to overload the 25 year old brake light switch on the front brake lever and fuse it so that it would not release. Replacing the switch with a new one took care of the problem. Try disconnecting the wires from the switch and see if it stops, if so then the switch is the culprit.

To late for your idea Gary - I have taken off the old setup and wired only the trunk to the device. It works perfectly. It sure is a pain to undo the tape/shrink wrap/solder routine.. hock: But, it is great to know the job is done right 8)

Thank You for the help and I will keep the brake lever switch in mind in case I ever have a problem there.
