I might be missing something.... a drawback to the 1-wire is that you have no way to run an instrument panel warning lamp. On my '85 Aspencade I can't find a warning lamp! Is there supposed to be one?

Any issues with this alternator fit - as the wiring comes from the side rather than out the top? Might be able to just rotate the back 90 degrees if necessary. Also, it appears that the top mounting lug is spaced farther towards the rear of the alternator - the originally specified Denso 1-1230-01ND has both mounting lugs in the same plane - the rareelectrical unit has the upper lug farther back.

There is no warning lamp on the bike. Most of us have installed a meter of some sort.
