change out of rear stop/tail light and turn signals
I am going a bit more naked on my standard. going to shed the big obnoxiousness tail/stoplight and turn signals for smaller tail/stop lights-turn signals all the way around. Not LED's.

I need some ideas on what I need to do to make this happen, to make the back end work like a car taillights work?

I am not the best at making electrical advances. no electrical genius here.

First check your local laws on turn signals. Most places require DOT turn signals, which usually means those huge ugly stock ones. You can buy small ones almost anywhere, including denniskirk.com, and cyclegear.com. But most warn you they are not DOT approved. I'm riding a Yamaha XT225 dual sport bike right now without turn signals (it's used mostly as a street legal dirt bike) because I found the small signals are not legal in my state, so I just use arm signals. As for the brake/tail/license plate light, if it were me, I would get one of those lights that uses a dual filament bulb, and attaches to the swing arm somewhere near the rear axle or lower shock mount on the left side of the bike. Then mount the plate vertically. Most cruiser riders around here use them because it hides the plate from the red light/photo radar cameras (these cameras are STRICTLY a money making device, on the red lights, they shortened the yellow so more people would get caught. Not suggesting you ride in a dangerous manner.

Go to JPcycles.com
You can find everything you will need there, or at least find something you like...and may be able to Fab.
That's where all the stuff on mine came from. Headlight, turns F/R, and taillight.
They have loads of lighting that could work for you.

I have about 20 t-shirts from them, along with several other apparel items, including a leather jacket and vest. They mostly sell Harley parts, but a lot of their stuff will fit on almost any bike
