Fork seals / progressive springs - clarification
I'm replacing the seals, as well as the brake pads they ruined, and I'm going to upgrade to progressive springs.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to buy. A forum search turned up this thread:http://www.gl1200goldwings.com/viewtopic...s&start=30 which recommended certain part numbers, which have since changed.

It looks to me like I need the following parts from http://hondaparts-direct.com/fiche_secti...&fveh=3448
2x 35 (SEAL SET, FR. FORK 51490-MN8-305 (replaces 51490-MB4-315)
as well as
Quote:I would like to add to what William said... that you should also get new bushings (#16 (1 per fork) and #17 (2 per fork)). For me, the little extra you spend now can save you a lot of down time later on.

Now I see bushings in the parts list but I don't know which I need 2 of and which I need 4 of. #15 (51414-KCR-003) appears to replace two different old part numbers, so... is that the one I need four of? And two, I assume, of #18 (BUSH B, SLIDER 51419-MB4-003) ??

Sorry to be so noobish, but I've never really done this kind of thing myself before and I get this feeling like if I don't order the right parts the first time around, my bike is going to be sitting in the basement, dismantled, all summer.

Thanks,
BT

DO NOT release the top cap before you undo the bottom Allen bolt in the forks, if your going to do the bushings.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I ordered the seal kit from All Balls. However, they didn't have the bushings which I had to get from Honda. I used them for the wheel bearing kits I installed last year. All Balls has seal/bearing kits to fit the GL1200's for wheels, forks, steering, and swing arm.
