All the info you need is found on this link.

I used a self exciting racing 60amp alternator that is also slightly smaller but harder to locate, plus a 3.75 main pulley with a 1.75 alt. pulley for good charging at idle.

Okay...I just received my Poorboy Conversion Kit today...(thanks so much Don) I want to buy the necessary parts but I am a little confused on what alternator belt to buy. One post says NAPA # 25030290, another post says the new number is NAPA # 25030310. Can anyone please confirm one or the other? I am also taking the advise and changing the timing belts. Have to be honest, I am nervous about all of it but I cannot wait to complete the project and get back on the road. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

original kit usually used the 290 belt, normally the newer kit requires the 310,since each install is somewhat different its sometimes a wait and see prop, course its never a problem to return an unused belt

more important is to get the right alternator since once you cut the mounting lug off there is no return

there are some other alternators that will fit but this is the number one used for the kit

OMG...I didn't think the alternator was gonna be that expensive! Oh well, it's still better than pulling the motor..lol
I am sure I will be posting a lot of questions when I start this project, please be patient fellow riders. Confusedhock:

Ha ha you should try buying the same alternator north of the border.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

Ya, and the cost of the alternator was about $40 extra because the lack of a "core" to return for the rebuilder.

When I went over the river to Auto zone to pick up the alternator for Lorne I just took an old alternator of approximate the same size, and they took it as a recore. no problem.. and if they had said anything I was going to tell them that it was different because it was a unique custom job in progress.. but they didn't.
