Front forks
Thank you neo, I will tackle this tomorrow. Just to be sure, the bolt is only threaded to the piston and not the lower assembly as well?
Thanks for the help
Mike.

I have started to drill out the lower bolt, but I think I need better bits. Any tip on size? I just wore out a 5/16th. It was a standard bit so I am going to get a stronger bit. I think I am almost there, just not sure how far to drill. Getting a bit frustrated and nervous, bit I guess there is no turning back now.....lol

Finished the forks. Thank you Neoracer for the help. Definitely was frustrating and nerve racking having to drill out the bolt heads, but the progressives are in and all seems good.

Just finished my fork rebuild with the springs and valves from racetech. Its like a new bike. Amazing! The folks at racetech were very helpful and knowledgeable on the 1200. Using their valve it disables the anti-dive due to additional compression holes. I was nervous about this, however I was very happy with the results. I'm a big guy and with the anti-dive set to 4 it still dove a ton. Their set up uses one spring set for riders weight, and a damping valve to control compression. The valve is adjustable mine is set to 4 clicks (firm). They state to set fork oil to 130 mm from top compressed.

The instructions were very detailed, specific to the 1200 and tech support answered the phone and knew the answer. Was not cheap about $190 for valves and springs but I feel well worth it. They also had everything else needed, oil and dust seals, in and out bushings.

One tip for anyone rebuilding forks i would suggest replacing the 6x27mm allen that holds the damping rod. Its so soft and distorts even with the correct size allen. Order the originals. Most anything you buy locally will be hardened and more likely to crack than the original.

Thank you Phil. There has been a lot of questions as to how the race tech fork springs perform. I was considering them as well for my rebuild, but couldn't get much info. So I went with the progressives because they are proven to perform well and were much cheaper. I definitely am happy with my.decision but its good to know there is another choice that performs.
