Water Pump Replacement

I'm in the process of changing out the water pump and see some O-Rings that should be replaced but I can not locate the part numbers. See Pics attached. During disassembly I heard something hit the oil drain pan I fished it out to find a piece also not shown on the parts list shown in the blue calipers, scales about 10x17mm.
Pic #3 The O-Ring in question is the one about 8 o'clock Pic#4 The O-Rings in the center of the pic where the water pump shaft inserts in to the engine and the one about 10 o'clock. There also appears to be a seal inside the larger hole. all comments appreciated. Thanks Bob **== After posting I discovered the O-Ring and gasket parts list posted by Tricky in Juine of '09 and that answered the oring questions, now on to the other problem in the blue calipers.

The little sleeve or bushing pictured goes in one of the water carring holes in the front cover and engine block. It must be installed.

when you install the rings, take a thin blade knife and open at the slit slightly this will hold it in place for assy.
I use Vaseline or Lard to lubricate the O rings on assy.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

After reading here and other GL1200 sources I have the oil weeping problem so I ordered the gasket kit and new water pump.
Once everything arrives I will tear it down. Wish me luck... I am so lucky that I also get to install the external Alternator too. Bought the bike from my younger brother who bought it from a guy that said it was not ridden much in the last several years. Only 37k on it. My brother rode it for about a month with no problems... I bought it off him and after two short rides, bad stator and the oil leak... Don and Bill have been a big help on the alternator stuff. Reading Tricky's postings plus some stuff off an other site I will jump on the water pump first.... |

I have been a little slow in getting my wing back on the road, had a triple bypass get in the way. I replaced the water pump and when I got it back together I had a neutral indicator light but no other gears are indicated on the panel. I pulled it back apart checked all the parts and the placement of parts on the shift selector assembly and now all seem to be in order, but I still have no light other than the neutral light. I changed out the sensor switch to be sure it wasn't the switch, but the problem has not improved. What did I miss ?
Thanks Bob

So long as the selector switch is really aligned correctly when you placed the front cover onto the engine then perhaps you pinched the wires running up the front frame tube by the side to the radiator?
I had the bike shop place the clamp for the engine guard around the frame and wire once, the light failed within a block and they had to cut and splice all of the wires going to the selector switch after figuring out what they had done wrong.

I checked the wiring and all it is free. The switch pin looked to be aligned correctly. I do have the neutral indicator light, but when I shift the gears no other lights appear. I only have the cover bolted on with 3 bolts to check the installation out before filling the system with oil and coolant.
