Dumb rider
I went on a short ride with my wife on last Sunday. Beautiful day, everything was great. We were motoring along at 110 km/h What a blast! When I reached my spot to turn around at the Bear Claw Casino , I began to shift down to make my turn. ROAR went the bike. Shaken and stirred, I kept my straight line down the highway, braked and attempted to downshift again. ROAR again. I then kicked off the throttle lock. Everything is good again. We turned and went back home , with me thinking.
Did I screw up my bike?
What should I look for? Temp stayed the same. no obvious leaks of fluids.
The bike ( 86 Interstate with about 38000 miles ), sounded a little bit noisier now, but that may be my imagination.

What are the chances that I bent a rod, valve, damaged the transmission, or final drive?

Help!

I havent ridden the bike since and I want to do some checks before I do.

H.

Most likely you didn't do any damage. It's not unusual for one to think there are strange sounds coming from a machine after an error, I know I thought I heard some odd noise from my 1200 when I missed a shift and dropped down two cogs instead of one. Really slowed the bike fast. I really don't think anything really changed, just my mental state for awhile.

I think if the motor still runs then nothing is broken.
