Here is a pic of my completed alternator conversion.
I borrowed heavily from many posters on how to go about the process. I used a smaller unit and followed the lead of Sundance in fabricating a bottom bracket to suit. [attachment=0] |

I used Don's pulley from the new kit Poorboy Toys.(3-1/2") ? I chose a little Nipp alternator that is used in forklifts and Kubota's Sonny at the alternator shop bench tested it - showed 55 amps. At idle I get 12.5 At 1,100 rpm - 13 At 1340 - 14 From 1340 up it stays at 14.40 |

Exactly, I added the sylvania (silverstar?) headlite bulb, headlite modulator,backoff unit, side fairing marker lites and trunk turn signals.
I already had driving lites on it. You can definitely see me coming - and going! |
