Can you please clarify what you mean by misfiring? Does it miss just at idle or high speed? Are your spark plug wires on correctly? Need more info to help you.

Have you checked the 1 and 3 coil to see if the primary wires are on and tight. Also, I have had this happen, the coil case can get cracked and then the spark leaks to ground. Pull the false tank and run the bike in a darkened garage to see if any spark is leaking out the coils or wires.

Just run it at night in a dark area. I like NGK Irridium spark plugs, not cheap but good. Cool car in your signature.

if it seems to run better with the splitfires and not the NGK's it sounds like you have a problem with the wires or the coils

sent you a pm yesterday call me when you have a chance

Could also be bad resistors in the spark plug wire ends. Get your manual out and perform all the tests on the spark plug wires.

i had a couple resistors that were testing good, but above 2000 rpm's bike would clear up and run fine, replaced all wires with taylor 8mm spiral pro's, threw away caps and bike has been trouble since the spring

the original wires are solid and have no resistance but the ngk caps have 5k resistors in them which can test ok but be intermittent when bike is running but that can only be seen using i timing light

considering the bike is almost 25 years old its just as easy to replace the wires with newer stuff, only reason the caps are there is so that rfi doesn't mess up radio reception, the new wires i'm reccommending dont have caps and are a straight replacement

in addition the old wires can be leaking thru the insulation to the bikes frame and except under a dark garage or area you'd probably never see if

you may be able to find a shop with an old style engine analyzer that would be able to test the voltage on each sparkplug wire but most now have taken that equipmnt to the dump
