noise from fuel pump
There is a clicking coming from my fuel pump. Bike runs fine but it does concern me. Nothing to worry about or should I replace. It is a 1985 GL1200 Aspy.

I have a 1987 Interstate and the fuel pump has just started to make this ticking noise while the engine is running. The bike runs fine, just make this ticking noise coming from the fuel pump. What did you find wrong with it?

Thanks
Tony

My 86 with now 50k on the clock clicked from day one, which was about a year ago. Soon the clicking sounded like castanets and the pump almost too hot to touch. Soon after, the pump leaked and quit altogether. Under normal circimstances, the pump will click but not steadily, just when triggered. So, is the click able to be heard over the motor racket? In my experience, that was the beginning of the end of mine. Oh, right up until the pump quit, the bike ran great. There are alternatives to Honda pumps, some posted right here, others on the SS site.

Stay warm, Patrick

Oh, sorry, great looking bikes too....
