I have a 1984 type 3 system and some times my AM to FM button sticks. This make the volume drop off a lot. I do clean all plugs and the multi-pins connector on the radio each year when I do my inspection of my bike. There are a lot of plugs on the bike. My CB and intercom work fine, and I have Sirius/XM to. Check and clean all plugs and tape them closed. CRC is a good cleaner for this. Good Luck with it. I will check backer later. :d
