Turn signal question
I have installed Jim's LED's a while ago and they worked fine. Today when doing the pre ride this is what I found. The left front and rear turn signal worked properly (slow blink). The right front blinker was blinking very fast (like without the resistor) and the right rear was not working at all. I checked the bulbs by switching and it is not the bulb. Could it be the resistor or could it be the fuse for the right cornering system (number 7 I believe on my bike an 85 1200 aspy). If it might be the resistor is that something I can find locally or do i have to get one from jim? Any help here from you electircal wizards would be greatly appreciated. THanks guys.

Just a note I was looking at the diagram for a fuse box for the limited thats why i said fuse number 7. Sorry if that confused anyone. I think my bike actually has a turn signal relay although I dont know where it is

If the resistor was shorted, it would give a direct path to ground and the fuse would blow (#5).
If the resistor was open, it would flash fast, but the bulb would work.
If the flasher was bad, the front and rear lights would act the same, either both on, or both off.
Check your saddlebag harness. Especially the area's you clamped in the resistor. You have a power or ground problem.
You didn't mention if the tail and stop lights work on the right side.

Well I found it lol. The wire bundle leading from the tail light housing to the connection up under the seat had a wire that had split. Looked like it had rubbed raw. After fixing the wire I will get a heavier wire protecting sheath and make sure it is protected. Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of a short/ground. Now i won't have to make the wife sit backwards and point when we go into a turn lol

Wow out of those four wires that are in that bundle coming from the plug under the seat leading to the plug behind the turn signal housing three of the wires had damage. One was worn completely thru and two others had worn spots with bare wire showing. FIxed wires (soldered splices in), shrunk wraped it, and then used a whole roll of electrical tape up and down the length to give it real protection. Lights work fine. Checked the wiring harness on the other side and it was fine but gave it some tape to help protect it as well. Again thanks for your help. If your ever down in NC and want some great rides give me a call and I can help you with that.
