Minnesota help request
I would like to replace the timing belts on my GL1200 and hope there is someone in Minnesota Twin Cities area that has done it before that would like to help me.

With Zero clearance I want to know I’ve done it right.

I can come to you or we can work in my garage, I live in Farmington south of the cities.

I am retired so the time to do it is at your discretion. Any volunteers? Message me.

One thing you may want to do is check out this post on goldwingfacts.com. Nifty little tool the guy made to keep the timing gears from rotating when you pull the belts.

its one of those things that sounds alot harder to do than it really is,its more a pain in the butt to remove the radiator than to do the belts

1stWing,

I'm your guy. I live in southern Minnesota not too far south of the Twin Cities and I have that nifty tool to keep the cam pullies from rotating. (No I don't, I built one like Honda's. What a great idea!)

Drop me a PM and we can set a date.

I will be glade to help.

glad to see that you can get some local help with the belts

one suggestion, while you have the rad out you might want to tie into the ground circuit on the fan connector on the bike side, just hook in about a 18 inch piece of wire and bring it back up into the fuse area, you dont have to connect it to anything at present, later if your fan switch goes out you can easily put that wire onto a switch on manually run the fan until you cab replace the fan switch, dont ask how that lesson was learned but its alot harder to hook in that wire once the radiator is back in

Sounds like a good lesson learned the hard way.
All suggestions are appreciated.

The Spring Maitanace is done (special thanks to Owaace for the help) and the weather is warm. We even found a couple potential problems we fixed up in the wiring. Life is good.
TIME TO RIDE.
