After looking around for a avatar that would fit the 80x80 and size less then 6kb I finaly found one, save it to my computer and tried to load it onto this site but I got the above error.

What I did to get my avatar to work was use the off site link to get it to work.

It's not the fanciest avatar I've ever seen but if you like a red x inside a square then that's what turns you on.

Have to wait for the smiles to come out. That one I linked to off site.

Anyway, I just thought I would pass along that the forum will at the moment not let you upload avatars into the system.

Now that is way too cool.

I don't know, I'll proably just keep linking of offsite avatars. Thats a pretty simple way of doing it. Just thought I would pass on the info about the uploading not working correctly.

Where is a good place to go to find some decent avatars?

I believe the max size this site will tolerate is 80 x 80 pixels.

Mine won't upload either, same error. Mine is 80x80 and only 4.5kb in size, so it's well within the allowed parameters. Looks like the red X will have to do for now!

BTW, you should be able to change the parameters in the Admin panel Vic. I see lots of phpBB forums with larger sizes. 80x80 is big enough, but 6kbs file size is too small for most people to crunch an avatar down to. 10kb works better. I'll try and link to my own offsite avatar instead.

Hello and Welcome Steve. I'm honored to have you as a member of this site and I'm sad to hear that you were having avatar problems. I guess you can call it growing pains because the guys here have alerted me to other issues as well.

I'll look into the avatar issue and hopefully it can be resolved.

Thanks again for joining Steve, your presence here is a sign of good things to come.

Enjoy and please let me know if you encounter any further issues.

I've increased the size to 100x100 and made it 10,000 bytes so that should be more than enough for the vast majority of different avatars out there.

Thanks for mentioning the problem Steve.

I have a picture that I'd like to make my avatar but I don't know how to make it any smaller. Can anyone help with making it into an avatar?

You will need an image editing program, most any editor will have something for changing the size like you need. Make sure that what you pick can be easly seen as once you have shrunk it it will be pretty small. Might crop the pic so you get what you want.

As for avatars on the web just go to google and search "forum avatar" and you should start getting a number of them to play with.

OK, I got my pic to be small enough for an avatar and I tried to put it into my profile but I keep getting a warning saying things I don't understand. I'm guessing the the Admin still hasn't got this problem fixed yet? Although Steve was able to put his up. I think Vic and Steve got something going on and don't want to share.
