Will a front brake caliper from a gl1200 interstate work on a gl1200 aspencade?
Honda part numbers are different. Thanks Bob

The thickness of the Aspencade rotor is substantially different from the Interstate because the Aspencade rotors are vented.
Since the pads are the same for all 1200's, I would suspect that the thickness difference is accounted for in the body of the caliper. The perch offset may also be different. If you're buying off ebay or a vendor that's not local, I would suggest you buy a caliper specifically for your Aspencade. |

I installed 85 Aspencade rotors on a 84 Intertate. All I had to change were the mounting brackets. :d

Do carefully inspect for corosion the grooves that the piston seals rest in... Quite often there is oxide in there that causes the seals to bind on the pistons... All the oxide must be completely removed else the pistons will once again bind in short order... Putting some calipar grease in the grooves will help prevent future oxide formations... The pistons should be easily installed with a little hand pressure only... If they feel tight at all then you need to recheck the grooves...

Thanks for the tip Ed. I rebuilt the rear caliper last Winter when I replaced the rear rotor. After 4000 miles no problems so far.
