self cancelling turn signals

The turn signals did not cancel themselves since I bought the bike, 85 Interstate. I took the after market stereo out to do some work on it and while I had the stereo out, viola , they cancelled themselves just fine. Nice to have that feature working. Put the stereo back in, back to its old habit, no self cancelling signals. What gives here? Now I might be convinced the Goldwing just doesn't like the stereo and refuses to play ball, but there has to be some explanation for this. Is it possible when I push the stereo back in I am jamming something up?

More than likely the radio installation. They've probably tapped into a wire for the cancelling system to operate the radio or illumination.

I had installed some driving lights when I first got the bike and found that when I had them turned on the signals didn't self-cancel. It turned out the ground I tapped into was causing the problem. Try running dedicated power/ground wires for the radio.
