1984 interstate running rough
I just parked the 84 Iterstate. I was out on a 3 hr ride with no problems utill...........I pulled up to a stop sign and she started to idle rough. I just filled the tank half hr ago. I went to let out the clutch and she started to buck like a hourse. I gave her some gas and away I went...no problems going through the gears or at crusing speeds. I pulled up to my house and she started idiling rough again. I looked at the dash and the tach was jumping between 1000&5000 rpm. The dash lights where dimming and getting bright again I shut her off. I`m hoping to get some info on where I need to start to fix this thing. Thx for all your input.

It could be the charging system.

At cruising speed it maybe putting out just enough to run your lights etc but not enough to charge your battery. At idle you may not have enough voltage to run your coils properly.

Just a thought.

Just as a wild guess check the dogbone fuse on the starter selinoid if you haven't converted to an in-line fuse yet. It could be going bad....

I just noticed that when it cooled down it works fine.My volt meter shows right around 14V give or take. When it was acting up it showed around 13V. It runs fine now. I`m wondering if it has a heat related issue to this problem? The Stator has been replaced a couple of years ago.
