Greetings all,

Hello from Massachusetts. Bought my first Wing this year in May. 86 GL1200A. Its a very well running bike that had 47k miles, but quite plain as the PO didn't do any accessory's or chroming. In the photo section is two pics, one when I got the bike, and one as it looks now, that is after a summer of EBaying and shopping at all sorts of Wing sites. Lots more pics at http://s674.photobucket.com/albums/vv106...0GoldWing/.

Welcome to the site from Ohio, close to the Football Hall of Fame, Roleketu. That's a fine looking bike! How many miles have you put on the "new bike" since you bought it? I've had mine for two years now and have put 7000 miles on it. I still get excited when I'm walking towards the garage to get her out!

What a coincidence, I'm barely two miles from the Basketball Hall of Fame. Springfield MA is the birthplace of basketball, started at a YMCA. This summer I put on 7000 miles, rode it all over. First trip was to Americade 09 in Lake George NY, then a camping trip to North Pole NY. Oh the Adirondack National Forest is a beautiful riding area. An over night trip to Sebago Lake and Camp Penaquid in Maine. Plus lots other day rides.

Wow, that Smokey...that's inspiration for us all!!!

Anyway, I'm Bob and I live in Sacramento, California. I currently ride an '05 Vulcan 750, which I got as a re-entry bike. It's been great and I've had it about three years now, but it's going to be time to upgrade. In these times, $$$ is very tight, but I think a GL1100 or GL1200 is very affordable and they appear to be reliable as well. My only concern is that because of the age of the bike, a lot of places won't work on them.

Still, the GWs really appeal to me. I'm going to do some reading and learning here (I've also been on Steve Saunders' website). Thanks for letting me come in and browse and kick the tires...

Welcome, Jinglebob. You've found the best site when it comes to moving up to a 1200. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have prior to purchase. Plus, with all the experience of many members here, you won't have any problems with getting assistance after the purchase.

Sorry about that Ray, I get hundreds of applications to join this site but most are spam bots. Unless a member name looks like a Gold Wing sort of name I just don't aprrove it but guys can always email me (my address is on the application page) with a personal request to join the site and in that case I will approve it because I know for sure that it's no a spam bot.
