New members post up a howdy!
Twisty and I got into more than once. He was the great engineer and I was the lowly mechanic and he did not appreciate it all when my answers got a little too accurate. I sure hope he's doing fine these days because I really enjoyed my debates with him.

Speaking of engineers, I really appreciate what you have been doing with your spare time. I like your ideas very much in regards to your Smartlight. You've really thought it out carefully and the features are awesome. I would certainly like to try one on my 84 Aspencade and share my observations with the folks on my site. Let me know via PM as soon as you have a full featured and complete version available for my 84 1200. I am going to start saving my pennies in the meantime.

If you need any specifics on the GL 1200 just ask me or any other well versed GL1200 doctor here and we'll try our best to get you the tech info that you may need. And don't worry about having too much to say here because your kind of info is greatly appreciated.

Were having a Gold Wing get together August 22/23 in Waterford, Ontario and since Georgia is not really that far way from you maybe you could ride up and show your Smartlight off there. By that time I hope to have a Smartlight installed and working on my bike.

I would have liked that as well but if you had made it you would have seen one really surprised and confused old guy running around trying to figure out what had just happened to him. It looked to me like NASSIR had plenty of things going on to keep everyone very busy without me being in it too. Thanks for the help and welcome.

Welcome, Budman! Nice ride! What was your rating and where were you stationed? I was a CTR2 (1981-1986), then reserve commission in the chaplain program (1986-1992). Good to have you aboard!

Hi All.
Just purchased my first Goldwing. A 1985 LTD with 127,000 km. I spent a fare bit of time reading up on GL1200's on this site before I took the plunge. The wealth of info already posted and the responses to problems posted gave me the confidence to go with one of these older wings. I had always thought the GL1200 was the best looking Wing on the road.
Thanks for answers to the many questions to come.
Now if we could only get some riding weather. We got 9 inches of heavy wet snow on Thurs. night. Mostly melted now but only 42 F. today.

Hi, guys!

I've been a member for a few weeks but neglected to put out a mini-background yet. I ride an '86 Blue Aspencade that I bought new after putting about 80K on a sweet CB550F I also bought new way back in '76 (wish I still had it!). After putting about 60-70K on the Aspencade in the late 80s and early 90s, including several 3 Flags Classics from Mexico to Canada, my jobs tended to cut into the travel time and my bike and I kinda went dormant for a while. I still put a few miles on it now and then but haven't been on a tour for quite a while. I'm in the process of refurbishing things a bit, including new tires and other essentials. I have 80K plus now and hope to see it hit 6 figures one of these days.

It's great to read all the posts and get such great feedback from other 1200 riders/owners. Keep it all going!
