Two-Up Cruising Speed
I'm just curious as to what average speed members choose for two-up on the highway. As for me, 110 kph seems about right.

I usually just stay at what ever the speed limit is, or 5 MPH over. 75 MPH (120 KPH?) on the interstate is plenty fast for me. The bike seems to handle the speed well even riding 2 up. Besides, I'm not in any hurry to get there.

I usually run around 100klm most of the time.Like Tomkat said I'm never in a rush when I'm on the bike.I do pretty much stay away from the multi-lane hyways if at all possible.I've been known to go 50 miles out of my way to stay off multi-lane hyways.

If Id'a known it would last this long I would've taken better care of it !!!

The speed of the traffic, I don't need to run over by an 18 wheeler and if there is no traffic not much higher than the posted.... well nearly Smile
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I like 60-65 MPH whenever safe or the flow of traffic to keep from getting rear ended, which around here can be 75-80 MPH sometimes.

I havent had the Wing too long yet, but it sure seems to like the speed. Big Grin
At first I was cruising close to the limit but had too many cars pushing me from behind. Not a good feeling.
I stepped it up to 100-110k, that seems to keep the cars off my tail, most of them anyway.
I am wondering if the speedo is off a bit, I want to check it with my GPS.

I think it was mentioned in another thread that the speedo's are 10% off. I know mine is, so I go 10% over speed and do the math.

I usually run 5 MPH above the posted speedlimit unless we are on the freeway in heavy traffic ,then we run with the traffic flow to keep from getting rear ended .

Around here the speedlimit on the freeway dont mean much to the cage drivers so you got to watch your back a lot.

When going next to the GPS the 85 Aspy I have is slow! At a GPS speed of 70 mph the speedo indicates 78-9 mph. When at about 30 mph by GPS the Aspy speedo is at around 35-6 mph.

As for traveling on the open road, it's generally posted speed limit (GPS) plus 2 to 4 mph or speed that traffic is going. 8)
When in doubt, climb on, insert key, start, put in gear and RIDE...

And I thought that I was the only one that had that optional feature. Things is, since the last speeding ticket, I get insecure when she's not with me so I tend to watch the speedo a little too much but I do try to keep within 10% of the posted limit but the urge to wind it out is always there, big time. It's in my blood I guess.

It is also sometimes very hard for me to do the speed limit unless my wife is with me and then it is very hard on me not to. When my speedo shows 80 km p/h I am doing 76 km p/h. I follow the traffic when I can but on my way home from work it is about 3:30 A.M and I am looking for animals not speeding, well most of the time.
Ride safe have fun and enjoy. Lane
