Tire size

Has anybody tried a larger size back tire on a 1986 gl 1200. It's time for tires so I thought I would try to get some input on tire sizes. Also if anybody could recommend a descent tire let me know. Thanks

Can't address the '86 rear tire size but for our '84, I stuck with what Honda recommended, 150/90H15. As for the brand, I went with Continental Milestones this Spring and I'm really happy with them so far.

Not trying to start a darkside debate, again. I mounted a 165-80R15 Nexen, still have plenty of room over 3/8" between the tire and the swingarm. I believe (but haven't tried yet) that a 170 80 15 will fit. The way I mount mine is after setting the bead, I loose all the air and even lean over it, so it will have the least amount of air before deforming, then I tighten the valve, mount the tire and then inflate to the correct pressure.
