Just make sure that you don't sand in a circle and use a professional quality polishing compound to finish it. Stop by most body shops they'll give you what you need.

Thanks for clarifying that. I'm not sure that it will work though. My problems are two chips that are as big around as the height of the lens and probably 1/64 deep or more. I don't know how they got there. One showed up and then a month later the next one came. Nothing hits that part of the bike. I think it might have something to do with the cold weather during the winter. Thats why I though about just gluing a different piece of clear plastic over the hole from the back side after I take the clock out and get rid of the chipped one. Is that piece of plastic a part of the clock? Will it come off of the clock?

What a shame. I think that you are stuck replacing the clock. That lens is glued in place from the back and to get at it you would need to partially destroy the clock itself because it is all bonded together making it essentially one piece.

Next week I am about to cut a broken clock open to determine how I can convert it into a volt meter and I'll be able to tell you more then so please ask me again late next week and I should have some news on how the lens comes out.

Thanks Vic. I'll wait to see how it turns out. Let me know. There pretty proud of those clocks on eBay. I thought about replacing it but at those prices I'll go with what I got. It still works just fine. I can read it just fine in the dark but in the day its next to impossible to read.

The light bulb is a separate component that is replacable, but you must remove the clock to get at the bulb.

You're welcome. Once you get the clock out you pull out the round rubber plug then turn the light bulb and it will fall into your hand.
