You could also remove all of the fuel from the tank and see if the light comes on.

Yep, Just on and off with the fuel shut off lever. Haven't noticed any low fuel warning lights either. Just pushing this forward 4 feet in the garage is lesson enough to tray real hard not to run out of gas with the old girl.
I liked the safety of a reserve built into the shutoff in my old Kawasaki, but that never rode as nice as the Wing. Can't have everything! |

My 84 Interstate does have a low fuel indicator light. Comes on pretty close to the bottom of the gauge.I believe it lights up first when you turn the key on as a check. Lately it has sort of been flickering when it comes on and then might go off on me. Wondering if the sensor is going south on me or poor contacts. I rely heavily on this indicator light when it is time to tank up.

At the petcock the settings are ON and OFF At the gauge cluster, LOW FUEL light is tested each time key is inserted and turned ON. Turn the petcock OFF for long storage times If your bike does not have the LOW FUEL light, your settings are ON and STOP. -Ride On.
enjoying the view from the saddle....... due mainly to the people and information found within this site
