Carb Jetting - CA vs. 49 State
I have a 49 state 1985 1200I with a very bad set of carbs (diaphrams shot and interior bady corroded form sitting for 10+ years).
I Purchased a very clean 84 Standard carbs with CA emissions from Ebay.

Can I retro fit the CA carb assy by way of taking off the vapor valve (located under the pendulm) and reconfiguring the vacum hoses to mirror the 49 State carbs?

Are the CA carbs jetted differently?

Would I be better off traransfering the good slides & diaphrams from the CA set into the 49 state set?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks!

The best I could come up with is this old post that verifies the main jets are at least different

You might be better off selling your Cal carbs and getting the right set....

Pull the bowls and check the numbers on the jets and air bleeds. Compare them between the two sets. You may only have to install the correct main jets. I would be reluctant to transfer any of the parts into the 49 state carbs if they are as bad as you say.
