Radio Antenna help needed for 84 Aspy 1200 GL
Some jerks stole my antenna off the bracket and broke the antenna coax off at the bracket.

I have purchased new bracket and coax. I have traced coax up to front of fairing where it disappears into fairing I thought it had to go on up to bracket that holds radio I have dash apart , windshield removed, headlight removed and canot locate the coax and the end where it plugs into the radio. anyhelp would be deeply appreciated and also have auto volume control out and the fittings around the left storage pocket.

The connection for the antenna should be in the left pocket. It does connect to the bracket for the radio, but the connector is in the left pocket. Since you said auto volume, I'm assuming you have the panasonic type III ?

Yes it's a panosonic and I will dig deeper into the area under left pocket as that is where it seemed to go into thanks for the info I guess blind in one eye and can't see that well out of the other one thanks again

On mine, 87 Aspy, the antenna plugs in under the false tank... Then that line goes into the left pocket... Follow your antenna wire cloesely from the back up to the front... You just might find the plug stuffed in with the rest of the wires on the left side under the false tank...

Do I have to pull the false tank off to locate it from what I could see it def goes down and back so I guess under the false tank but how do you get to it??

Are you wanting to know how to remove the false tank?
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

No the fairing does not have to come apart. Start by removing the seat and the left and right side covers. There's a bolt on each side at the bottom point of the fake tank. Remove those. Next remove the left and right upper fairing pockets. Once those are removed you'll see 2 more bolt's located at the front part of the fake tank, left and right. Remove those. It'll help to have the fuel cap access cover open during the removal of the tank fairing. Slide and lift the fairing back and up and it should come right off!!

Remember!! Be gentle and have Paitence!!

Its a 5 min affair once u do it a couple tiimes ,might as well get your feet wet cause almost anything u need to do with electrical things require the tank removal

then trace the antenna wire up the left side of frame and in right about the fuse area it disconnects frm the front antenna harness the connection will have a rubber cover on it

If you have a CB the antenna goes into a junction box located under the left side pocket, the cb and the radio share the same antenna. I want echo everything said about the false tank.... get used to taking it off,,, there is not much you can do on the bike mechanically without removing it... and its easy.... when installing it just take it nice and slow,, I find that some of the many wires interfere with putting it back on, you may have to move them gently to get it back on..... once you do it once its a piece of cake....good luck enjoy and ride safe
