Mystery Of The Little Red Wire........ Solved
I was in the process of removing the battery box to clean it up and repaint it when while removing the Positive battery cable I discovered a Red wire with a bared end stuck under the cable. The wire ran along the harness and disappeared into the darkness. After the outside temp got up to above freezing I pushed the bike outside and gave it a good cleaning with the seat and tank cover off I was able to get to places I wasn't able to before. After drying the Wing down and using an LED flashlight I was able to track the wire to a cigar lighter/ 12V accessory plug on the LH side of the lower faring. The wire was not fused and needless to say it is no longer on the bike. The plug was rusted and corroded and not usable. I will need to replace sometime in the future...maybe.

I do believe you can get stainless lighter sockets, possibly at a Marina
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I would guess that would be the place to start. Then I'd need to figure what wire that wire replaced. And where it originally connected. Sounds like a job for NEXT winter.
