GL1200 starter--- $20.00 per brush? is this normal?
I checked at a local Honda shop, and they quoted me $19.99 per bursh and $3.00 per spring,

Would be about $ 50.00 with tax.

Is this about average :?: seams kinda high considering how simple a brush is.

Yup. Around twenty bucks per. Or <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.php?model=GL1200&category=electrical">https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.ph ... electrical</a><!-- m -->
I've had pretty good luck with these for 12.00/pair. I've never replaced the springs. They always seem pretty stiff to me, and haven't had any failures.

Walter, stop stepping on Dave's post. (The guy lives right down the street) Besides, we're talking about starter brushes, not tooth brushes!! :lol:

Thanks a lot glhonda, thats a lot better :!:
I will order a set tonight, my starter has been sluggish, and from what I've read it most likely needs cleaning,
I hope you didn't get flooded with all the water down your way

Opps, didn't see the $ 35.00min order + $5 shipping, I guess I will just tear it down and make the call after I see the brushes I have.

You can get them for $15 (honda originals)... They come in a package with two brushes in it... I bought two packs a couple years ago only to find they came with both brushes in each one... Was able to help out a fellow Winger (GL1100) as his took the same size as the 1200's...

Just put in part # 31201-MG9-004 on this web page to see...

Also be sure to clean and put terminal grease on the area where the back cover (brush end) touches the starter main body (improves the ground path)...

Also be sure to check and clean the battery's ground wire where it attaches to the frame...

Dave, I have to put in an order for other parts. If you like, I'll add a set of brushes. When they come in, I'll leave them under the big yellow rock at the exit 111 off ramp northbound!! Just PM me.
