Rear Case Gasket Numbers
Seems there must be 2 different part numbers for these gaskets as the gasket I have is alittle bigger than my case.

My 84 Aspy is getting a winter go thru but my gasket is wrong anyone have either of the part numbers there must be 2, one for the 350w stator case and one for the 500w stator case ?

The gasket for the LTD editions is larger than the Interstate or Aspencade.

I would try 11394-371-000 for the 84 Aspy

Yeah that's what I thought, the problem was they did a subsitution for a 000 gasket with a 306 like the 000 one had been discontinued. Guess I have to go back to the parts store and have him search for a 000 gasket.

Anyone have any good sources for gaskets on line just in case ?

The part number Tricky supplied is correct. The part is still available from Honda, or ebay.
The '84 case gasket is different. However, the '85 and '86 cases are different from each other as well. Although the cases are physically
the same size, Honda changed the bolt configuration, so an 85 case wont bolt to an 86 and require different gaskets. Strangely, the 85 LTD gasket is the same as an 85 Aspy/Interstate and the '86 SEI is the same as an 86 Aspy. So it has nothing to do with the stator size. Just Honda preventing interchangeability of components. Thanks mother.

It's really strange how Honda did it on the GL1200, they should have just put the big alternator on from the beginning. I have held 3 GL1200 rear cases in my hands at the same time and each had different bolt centers near the middle. 84 has a smaller alternator housing with ventilation louvers on the rear, 85/86 has a larger alternator housing with no ventilation louvers and LTD/SEi/87 has a higher output alternator with the large external case. The best way to get the correct gasket is to go into the parts depot with the serial number and order that way to save some confusion.
