GL1800 radio controls on handlebar???
Does anyone else think that I might be able to "convert" the original clutch, and throttle side handlebar controls with an 1800's more complex controls? I have alot of accessories I am planning to put on this motorcycle, and I need "stock" switches and controls to help me control more things... has anyone tried this, run into any inherent problems?

I understand I would have to re-wire most of it to the older wiring... but what I am getting at is

-will it mount to the handlebar diameter the same?
-is there enough handlebar "room"
things like that

I think I would post your request over at Steve Saunders site, there are more 1800 owners there, we are just a lowly 1200 owners site Big Grin

Yes but he is asking about the handlebar controls on an 1800, most of those guys have had 1200's so they would know if they would fit. Most of us have never don't know too much about the 1800 we're too busy riding out 1200's to look at 1800's Smile

kinda 50-50 i guess. But seeing as how you've answered tricky... I can tell that no one seems to have done this to their 1200 yet, which is what i was looking for. I dont want to talk to the 1800 owners Tongue, I just want to find out if a 1200 can be retrofitted, at the very least temporarily to have these switches

I have an alternator kit in progress... so im not worried about the amps

I've never really had a look at them to see if they would fit, I imagine anything is possible if don't mind adapting and making brackets.
I had a buddy T.I.G up a small box and I cut out three slots and made a bracket to fit the three switches above and in front of the right brake master cylinder cover
