i bought a set of driving lamps for 18 bucks. and paid a guy 12 bucks to cut and bend the brackets i designed. and 4 bucks for a piece of a stainless sheet. 2 bucks of a couple of nice nuts.

not connected yet, only mounted to test. im thinking of installing stroboscopic lights in there, or xenon.

if i fit xenon it would be only 70 watts. plus 35 of the main headlamp would be 105 in total. i guess the stock system can handle it. since i've seen people fitting on the headlamp 100 watts bulbs.

Nice Job! Looks like a "H-3" bulb. If you decide to go Xenon/HID you may have to find the H3 "SHORT" or "Mini" bulbs. The standard H3 Xenons are 2 inches long. The "Shorts" are around 1 to 1-1/2 inches I believe. The only place I know of that has the short ones is a Ebay seller called retro-solutions. They also have a website...http://www.retro-solutions.com/35WKIT.html If I remember right he has the 35 watt and 55 watt versions. Some day I want to go with the 55 watt versions in some 4 inch spot lights. There is a write up here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/s ... hp?t=12471 on a guy that converted some driving lights to HID. Take a look at the pic he posted comparing a 100 watt halogen to the 55 watt HID. Quite a difference.

thanks for the info. i already had noticed that the 55w h3 halogen is really close to the lens and i knew xenon was bigger. anyway the bulb itself can be moved rearwards and still have the lighting thing inside the reflector.
