Tach readout gone weird

Hi All.
I have a 1989 GL1500. Took bike out of garage yesterday , everything all ok. Did a check of all fluids and undid the radiator cap. A small amount of water came out. All appeared ok so put cap back on. About an hour later I went to go out and started bike and noticed tach reading 1500rpm at idle, (norm is 800). :? :? Under acceleration tach now goes into the red at anything over 1/4 throttle. At all speeds from 30mph to 60mph in top gear tach now reads around 1000-1200rpm above norm. :?: :?: All other gauges reading perfectly. Have checked all connections and assertained correct voltage reading at tach. Any help greatly appreciated. John |

I don't have a clue about the 1500's. You might want to do a search or ask the question at Steve's Site:

Hi fellas and thanks for your input.
I had also listed help on Steve Saunders site. Pulled all the connectors apart and cleaned them with contact cleaner, cleaned up all the earth connections and problem solved |
