I know this is stupid, but does the digital display light up so it can be seen in the dark? MIne does not.

Yes it should.
There are two fuses under the left pocket, against the inner wall. See if one of them has burnt.
Do any of the lights work in LCD such as the indicators, oil light etc?
Could be bulbs burnt out.
Do the position lights work, they are the two lights either side of the headlamp

All of the "gauges" work. It is a bike that had been sitting for a couple of years before I purchased it from PO. It seems to have some electrical gremlins. Hopefully soon I will be able to take down and clean all conectors. Thanks for any more info and insight.
