I'm seeing a replacement brake master cylinder listed on E-Bay here:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140255410808">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0255410808</a><!-- m --> I was wondering if anyone has tried one of these with any success.

im not sure if the seller knows what he is talking about.
from the 1983 goldwing to the 1500 the front brake is single. i mean the master cylinder only operates a single calipper. unlike most bikes and previous versions of the 1100 goldwings and 1000 that were dual front brakes operated by the front master cylinder. Quote:FRONT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER with hole for mirror and brakelight switch, FIT 7/8" handlebars, FOR DOUBLE CALIPER BRAKE SYSTEM FIT HONDA GL1000 GL1100 GL1200 GL1500 i would check with the seller if he is aware of the linked brake system and also wait for a guru to answer |

I know I'm kinda late here, but I bought one of those for my 1986 GL1200 Interstate and it works beautifully. My old master cylinder was marked 1/2, but I could easily pull it all the way back to the bars. There was very little stopping power.

Just an update: The old master cylinder was NOT the problem. Somebody took a set of chrome levers, and used a grinder to make the brake lever fit this bike. When I replaced it with a stock OEM lever, the brakes firmed right up, using the stock brake master cylinder.
