Drain and Refill front forks
O.k. guys ,hope you don't think I'm a total idiot for asking but, all I want is to change my front fork oil. Now,according to the repair manual I have ,they say to remove the front forks and drain them. I don't have any leaks so all I really want is to know if I can just let the air out, pull the plugs and refill them without actually removing them. If so how much will it take to refill them on an 84 1200A. Thanks ! Big Grin

You dont need to remove forks to replace the oil.
You may find the antidive mechanism sludged up, If the oil doesnt come out remove and clean, seems like you have a manual.
Putting the caps back on is the challenge.
Block the engine before doing any work on the front forks.

You can use fork oil, I use 15 weight Belray fork oil. The manual calls for ATF.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
