I have a GL 1200 Aspincade only getting about 11.58 V to the battery what would it cost be for a alternator conversion kit for this bike?

I now offer my kit 2 ways. As a complete conversion kit & a mounting kit. The complete kit has all needed parts + I do the needed mods to the alternator. It is $525.00 + $30.00 shipping/handling in the U.S.. The mounting kit is minus the alternator, belt & wiring. It is $215.00 + $15.00 shipping/handling.

Are the kits for the gl1200 still available? My bike is torn apart in my garage and my wife is ready for it to be running. If not available, where can I find them? Thanks!

I got two from you poorboy a couple of years ago, of course you didn't have the complete kits then, just the mounting kit. I can tell you emphatically that I wouldn't have kept my 1200s this long if it were not for your conversion. I have yet to have any problems, in fact I put voltmeters on both bikes and continually monitor bike charge while traveling. I can't thank you enough. In fact, when I'm on this site or others and someone talks about changing their stator out for a new one, I always tell them how happy I am with your conversion. The only thing I can't understand is why some will not switch over to the conversion and insist on changing their stators to new replacement stators. Sometimes more than once!

It would be interesting to find out how many additional miles have been enjoyed on Goldwings since adding the Poorboy.

Again, thanks Don.
enjoying the view from the saddle....... due mainly to the people and information found within this site

Just wanted to chime in here to confirm that I have had Don Pigott's Poorboy alternator conversion kit in my 1986 GL 1200 Interstate for more than 7,400 miles now, and it is working very well.
For reference sake, I do run a stereo, but I don't have any non-standard lights on the bike.

Good day Don,

I am interested in buying an alternator mounting kit for my 1986 GL1200 Aspencade. Can you please quote me for the mounting kit and shipping to Quebec City, Canada ? No need to send it by air. If possible, ground transportation would be sufficient and probably less expensive.

Many thanks, Don.
Best regards from Canada !

Martin.
