My Trip to Stonehenge

Washington side of the Columbia River, looking south to Oregon. Cape Horn looking east up the Columbia River Gorge Several shots east of Bonneville dam Notice the climate change? The east side is much drier. Stonehenge. It was built by Sam Hill, (what in the sam hill is that?) and it's a WWONE memorial. People back then actually believed that as a result of this war, there would be no more wars! Naive? Overly optimistic? I Kinda wish someone would reignite that expectation. MaryHill Museum. It was built by Sam Hill back when Portland was still a bunch of tents and lean too's. He had a vision of one day making that area into a metropelous. He built the "house" for his wife, a New Englander. Oddly, though she did visit, she never did live there. Considering when I was there it was 98 degrees, and that's normal, I can understand why. Although, the scenery is breath taking. It worked out to be a 9 hour ride. The digital thermometer topped out at 98f. Ranged anywhere between 90 and 98. The wing is a road warrior and it ran like a true champion. 40 mpg too! All in all, it was an epic ride, and a terrific day!

Wow, those pictures are great. Sure hope the weather is that good when we do our Olympic Peninsula Run on June 14/15.
Here's an idea...why don't you tag along for a day? |

This was my first time out of the pond on 2 wheels.
For me, it was very exciting and truly epic. I got a half dozen excellent rides right in my neighborhood. That means more pictures one day soon!
