Turn Signal Cancel Unit - Questions
One other question. When the right side fails to "flash", do the signal bulbs illuminate?

The right front bulb usually does illuminate, but the right rear bulb usually does not. This seems to be the case most of the time, but not 100% of the time.

I'm not sure how much of a hint that is because (unless I'm mistaken) the right front bulb has two filaments in it, one for the position (running) light and one for the turn signal; while the right rear bulb has only one filament in it (for the turn signal). So the front one being on may just be the running light filament burning.

And again, all of these bulbs have just been replaced and the bulb socket contacts cleaned and the wiring connectors upstream from the bulbs checked.

sounds to me like an intermittent grounding problem... that will cause the power to go through the other filament

I believe the fact that the one bulb at least lights, would eliminate the possibility of your cancel system concerns. Concentrate on the bulb that doesn't work. A faulty ground is a good possibility. There is a connector under the seat, a sub harness that runs to the bag, and a tail light harness in the lens assy. I know you've checked these before, but you're problem is intermittent, so carefully inspect them again. Do a "wiggle" test on the wires and see if the problem shows itself. Check the socket carefully. The ground wire is "staked" to the socket. Re-solder it. Check for heat damage at the spring loaded portion of the power wire. Over time, they get hot, and the wire will retreat into the fiber ring causing a intermittent contact. I think you're really close.

OK glhonda, you've convinced me we're on the right track. Looks like back into the right rear turn signal assembly/wiring harness I go!

Thanks much for the troubleshooting assistance!
