Hooking up a tach for Pilot drop
I just finished going thru the carbs and also did a sync job. Now I want to do a pilot drop since I don't have a colortune but I can't remember how to hook up an external tach. Do I use both coils or one? My tach is just like a multi-tester, 2 leads. One red wire, the other black. Can anyone give me detailed instructions on? Thanks

Either coil is fine. You don't need both. If you look at the wiring diagram, the tach on the motorcycle is only driven by one coil. Accessing the wire/s on the other hand, could be difficult. Just make sure you're not on the B/w wire. That's the 12v that supplies power to the coils. A tach won't read on a constant power signal.

Thanks, it's been a while since I've done this. I do remember having the false tank off. Must have been when I replaced the spark plug wires a few years back.
