Sounds more like a carb synch problem. Get a tool and check it.

i changed fuel filter, cleaned the throttle valves which were very dirty & sticky.synced the carbs best i could.now 1,2,4 are very strong cyilinders but 3 still is weak also misses until warmed up [think #3 is culprit]

It could be a lean mixture on #3 carb, either dirt in the carb or the mixture screw is set wrong.

got home this afternoon looked the carbs over, going to have to pull the brass plugs over mixture screws.might as well do a rebuild on them kits dont look that exspensive, what would be a starting point for the mixture screws. 1 1/2 turns out ?

sorry i havn't kept this upto date, but busy at home & work.here we go,looked the carbs over, plugs over the mixture screws, decided to finish out the season without a teardown.oct 20 the fuelpump quit, replaced it with a low pressure aftermarket pump.i know looks hidiuos BUT no more fuel starvation problems,no more missing, and runs better than when i first bought her.so now i know the problem, just have to convince wife to justify the cost of a prettier chrome pump.AND i repleced the fuel lines to be on the safer side.wuold have posted earlier today but had to order some patches from vic.thanks for the help , rod

I'm glad you got her fixed Rod. Sometimes carb problems can be very elusive and hard to explain in text but you got it figured out finally. What made you suspect the fuel pump? :?:

Lets see a photograph, and post the make and model of the pump.
