Tires: I'm Confused!
I'm looking to change out my tires soon on my 84 Aspy. The PO had put some tires on that I've never heard of. In addition, from talking to a lot of people, it seems that many people like the Michelin Pilot GT's. Here's what I believe is recommended and what I'm currently running:

Front:

Spitfire:

110/90-16 (Recommended)
110/67H-16 (Currently on bike)

Rear:

Marathon:

130/90-15 (Recommended)
150/90-B15 M/C 80H (Currently on bike)

I've never heard of either a brand called Spitfire or Marathon tires. However, I do see them on the internet.

So, what size and tire manufactures is everyone else running?

I've not heard that much about the Michelins yet although what I have heard is all good. I'm running the Dunlop Elite 3 on mine and so far I'm very satisfied with how they ride and handle.

I think the Spitfire is a Bridgestone and the Marathon a Metzzler

I put on a set of the Bridgestone Spitfire 11SR's last spring and have been very pleased with them.

When I got my wing it had new E ll on it so I haven't driven a wing with anything else to compare them with. When the time comes I will get a set of E lll to replace them.

Like Lane, my 'Wing had the old style Dunlops which were not impressive. The Bridgestones are far better and I'm looking forward to trying a set of the EIII's when the time comes.

Ok I have heard all the ravs about Elite 3s and I will need a rear tire soon.

My 85 aspencade has a Rear 150/90 - 15 74h as the size listed.

I cannot find an exact number for an elite 3 but think this is the one that fits..
DUNLOP ELITE3 MV85HB-15 REAR ( its the only Elite 3 thats 15 inches for a rear application.

I may be over worrying but never hurts to ask others first!
So am I correct?

Sigh Search is your friend second time around I found this..

quote="tricky"]According to the shop manual:

F 130/90 16
R 150/90 15

http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/fitmentguide.asp

Unfortunately the Dunlop Elite III bias tire does not come in white wall version, possibly other tire manufacturers make them. After running Dunlop K491 tires on my bike and then switching to the Elite III Bias tire that would be what I would reccomend.[/quote]

MT90-16 or 130/90-16 on front.

MV85-15 or 150/90-15 on rear.

Those are correct for the 1984-87 Gold Wing GL1200 series, all of them.
