GL1200 LEDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to the run up on this product, a mechanic
wasn't needed, that it was a simple 30 minute project.

So, now, after the fact, I'm being told this isn't a project
for anyone other than "experts?"

You wanna know why I joined this forum? Because I
don't know much about bikes or Goldwings. I joined to
talk with people like me who have had similar issues.
I did not join this forum to be told I don't have the brain
to own a bike, or to work on one!

Do I wish to keep going? Do I need your permission
to do so?

The lights work. I have said that several times, the lights
them selves are not the problem. They work and are beautiful.
The problem is that I was not able to figure out the instructions.
Now, knowing that I really am a pretty smart cookie, and that
problem solving is my long suit, I was still unable to "follow
instructions" and as a result, the lighting system has failed to
operate is it's supposed too. Is that Jim's fault, or mine?
For the sake of argument, or lack of, lets assume it's both, OK?
The combination of my inability to follow simple instructions,
even though I really am a pretty smart guy, and Jim's failure
to provide instructions I could follow, even though I really am
a pretty smart guy, created a problem in which in the end,
the lights and the lighting system on my bike have failed.

Do you also wish to make the problem into a customer problem?
Don't you feel the seller of a product has a certain responsibility?

Cheeses, what's with you people.
Are all bike riders such elitists, or is that a GL1200 trait?

(Reminder. I have no issue with Jim personally. I do not know Jim
personally. Same goes for everyone else on this forum. If I take issue,
I do so ONLY with what I can see)

Also, I am receiving assistance with this issue via PM. I would think
it best, for the good of the forum, that this issue be allowed to die out.
If someone still want to discuss it, send me a PM and I'll ignore it privately.

the problem is being resolved.

However, if you would like to e-mail a set of improved
instructions, it might be helpful.

I received my LED's from Jim at LEDnights a couple of days ago.
I came into this thread saw the pictures and they threw me off in regards to the installation. I connected mine the same way as the picture listed here which is over complicating the installation and confused me, and I incorrectly installed the resistors at the wrong locations putting the resistors in the wrong locations.

Then I looked over the instructions and asked Jim. It became very clear that the resistors go between the turn signals only. Then unplug the trunk connector, and those wires get connected directly to the saddle bag connector wires (the trunk only does not get connected back together) the saddle bag connector remains connected.

I must say Jim took care of my questions quickly and accurately

The rear brake light works great, the turn signals work as before, only brighter

The Lights work great and look awesome Big Grin Big Grin

Thank to Jim at LEDnights

Unfortunately, when I bought the kit, no one told me that the resistors were for the turn signal circuits. Not knowing that, and reading the instructions, and trying to make sense of what I had, and what I did not have, I messed up the install because I attempted to install the resistors where I thought the instructions were telling me too, and not on the turn signal circuits as I was supposed to but didn't have those instructions. I also managed to mangle my wires pretty good with all the crimps being applied and removed..

That said, I do not wish to be a negative against LED nights. The product works great, and I hope the issue with instructions has been all worked out.

Good luck with the business, I hope everything remains bright.

Hi All; I know there has been some issues with the LED lights from LED Nights. I just installed a set on my 1200 Aspencade today with no problems. I did not have to do the wire modification, just plug and play. Although I did have to install the resistors for the turn signals. Everything seems to be working great. I recently rebuilt my 1984 Aspencade and thought that I would replace the lights with LED's. After buying some on the net, 1157 format and replacing turn signal relay with electronic one, I was less then impressed with britghness of these LED's compared to standard bulbs. I did replace two light side makers with ultra violet LED bulbs and the upper trunk lights have been replaced with LED's also, but the bottom ones and the front signal lights were left alone.

I am sure that reducing some of the lights, removal of CB and stock radio with newer style will infact lower overall power consumption.

So, my advice is to make sure you are visible enough in bright sunshine, otherwise the risk is too great to use LED's in the critical rear signal and brake lights.
