GL1200 LEDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an opportunity to outfit our 1200 with LEDs that will work.
The manufacturers That I was using was way too expensive for us to afford In my opinion. The LED I have found works great in the 1200, I have a pair of them installed on my 1200 on the saddlebag tail lights and they are brighter than stock. These LEDs are like no other I have ever seen, they are not the 5mm dome leds like we use in markers and GL1000s tail lights. The best bet on these is to use the resistors for the turnsignals, the only time it will waste any power is when the turn signal is actually on, Blinking. I know that 99.5% of the time my turn signal is not on as I log way more highway miles than city miles. These lights will have to be pre ordered, and I have to let them know how many to get for us. These Lights will be $20.00 per pair. If enough of us order he will get them for us. I personally am replacing all 6 on the tail of my Aspy. If you would like some of these let me know ASAP Thank you Jim |

Hey Jim,
Are these the tail/brake combos? I'll need 2 for the saddle bags and 2 for the trunk light bar. I will probably not convert my turn signals, but am interested in doing the rest of the indicators and running lights. Thanks for sourcing these out. Cheers, FTO

Hey Jim,
Have you gotten the new style 1157's that you were talking about recently. Seemed like I remember you said that they would be in at the end of October. Also, have you put together a full replacement kit that would cover all of the basic lighting replacement for our Wings? Thanks. Cheers, FTO

Hey L.E.D. Tech,
I have a 86' GL1200-I 1. Do you know if a LED light is available to replace the reflector on both sides of the front fairing. I think it would make the front side more visable, I have seen the newer european cars have that light on the front fender. 2. Also is it available, a LED to replace the reflector on the lower side on the fibre saddle bags 3. a LED third brake light mounted high on the trunk would also be nice. Thanks Gary |

Hey Jim: I don't know if the kit I bought from you late last fall was one of these 20 kits, but i have to tell you, getting these tail/brake led's to work is quickly becoming a nightmare. in the 1157's one contact is not quite as high as the other and they work as they are being installed but once clicked into place none of them work.
If everybody subscribed to the theory of an eye for an eye, the world would eventually be blind.

First, I had/have a problem with the instructions. They seem to be vague and incomplete. The diagram assumes way too much of the end users knowledge, and when talking about wire colors, fails to take into account that there are sometimes several of the same color.
This issue caused me to unwrap my entire wire harness from the gas tank back, just so I could be sure WHICH green wire, etc. Then after figuring out the diagram's intentions, AND the instructions them selves, the lights for the trunk don't work, the turn signals still don't function, and the warning light on the dash is still on just as if the trunk lights were still plugged into the harness per factory with LEDs installed. And one more thing. The instructions tell me where to put 3 of the resistors, but where does the fourth one go? The turn signal circuit maybe? But where? The lights them selves work beautifully. And they look even better! Quite impressive. Especially the two accent lights next to the head light. (headlight. One more thing that doesn't work until this wiring problem is solved) I have written a letter to LEDNights. Hopefully the problem is an easy fix and won't require a refund. Because I like the lights!

Sorry, but I have to be blunt. Your instructions suck! It took me a fair amount of looking at your diagram, reading the instructions over and over, over the course of many days, and looking at my wires, INCLUDING stripping the harness apart so I can see and follow individual wires because there are sometimes more than one of the same color. Today I believe I have figured out what it was your instructions were trying to tell me. Unfortunately, the lights don't work. The turn signal is still faulty, the tail light indicator is still on, and the trunk lights don't work. this first image shows my connections to the wires that lead to the trunk. brown, yellow on green and green. the saddle bags are on each side. View full size this second image shows the connections BELOW where they split off to each saddle bag. Notice that the wiring harness has been taken apart. Also notice the number of similar wire colors, which is why I took the harness apart. View full size I also attempted to splice in just up from the disconnected plug. To say the least, I'm a bit perturbed with all this. First, it took many weeks to get the kit. Then the kit was not complete as the wireless connectors were not included. Then your instructions are really quite confusing. (I won't go into detail about what was wrong with them save to say they really are confusing)The puzzle might be quite simple too you. But not to a moron like me. Then your instructions explain how to use 3 of the resisters, but you sent 4. Considering the cost of these things, was that an accident, or does this resistor have a use that was not explained, such as maybe the turn signal circuit? Frankly, though the system had issues without the resisters, at least the lights did all actually work! I would like to get this problem solved. However, at this time, unless the issue is resolved very quickly, I'm tempted to take all the lights out, put the regular bulbs back in, and send the whole package back seeking a refund, including postage both ways and the wireless connectors I bought my self. -----Original Message----- From: lednights <lednights@bellsouth.net> To: Leslie <skymajic@aol.com> Sent: Sat, 26 Apr 2008 8:22 pm Subject: Re: problems with the LED kit for my GL1200 Aspencade I will also be blunt, your message sucks. These instructions were reviewed by several Gold Wing experts and they said they were so detailed that a first grader would understand them, that is why I used this diagram. I mean how could it be more simple? unplug 1 connector and splice together like wires. The resistors are for the turn signals, not the tail/brake lights. use 1 resistor for each turn signal, one end of the resistor wire goes to the turn signal hot, or positive. the other end goes to the ground wire going to that turn signal. every single person that has installed the kit and done the mod has had "0" problems, the kit works perfectly for them and also on my bike, is there a chance that you tapped to the wrong side of the connector? -----Original Message----- Re: problems with the LED kit for my GL1200 Aspencade Message Leslie to lednights <skymajic@aol.com> lednights@bellsouth.netCc:Bcc ![]() So in other words, you intend to tell your customer that you are more correct because you talked to experts? Is it your contion to belittle the customer because you couldn't have made a mistake, because you consulted experts? Would you really like to discuss what was wrong with your diagram and your instructions, or would you prefer to find a solution, just in case I'm not an idiot and I might in fact know what I'm talking about, just in case you might like to continue selling your product? I told you the truth as I saw it. You don't wish to deal with this. OK. We will then assume you don't wish to have one happy customer, which is too bad because I really wanted to be a happy customer. Please be sure to expect that I will do less than recommend you and your product. Did I tap it correctly? You tell me, I sent you pictures. I sent a complete explination of the problem and not some crappy diagram, but pictures, with arrows explaining what things are. I sent you what you did not send me. You know, if I bought something at Wal*fucking*mart and had a problem, THEY would be courtous and ask if there was anything they could do to assist me and woudl seek resolution to the problem. They would in fact NOT make the effort to further offend me, the customer. You said you were working long hours. I strongly suggest you keep that job! I will figure my experiences with you to be ample example of the risks one takes when buying on line.
