Passenger Arm Rest
I recently picked up a pair of passenger armrests, and when they arrived, I discovered that they have tabs that fit under the rear speakers. I originally thought that I would just track down and buy a set of rear speaker enclosures, but then I would have to change out the luggage rack. So then I figured that maybe I could just have something fabricated, like a bar the width of the armrest that would have both bolts and would attach through the tabs and down into the trunk. Do the passenger armrests attach in the same place for all of the Aspencade models? Standard, LTD, SE-i..etc? Will the holes line up? I've been unable to find a good picture that shows how the speakers are attached on the LTD/SE-i models. Does this sound feasible. Anything that I'm forgetting?
Thanks.

Cheers,

FTO,
are you referring to OEM rest or the after market type that stick out further and swing out of the way to mount and dismount the bike?

The OEM's that bolt through the top of the trunk. Sorry, for the confusion, I guess I should've been a little more specific.

Thanks Dave. That'll be great! I guess really they're more of an elbow rest than an arm rest.

Thanks John,

I've got the Aspencade as well. The elbow rests are from a LTD and the mounting is a little different due to the rear speakers. I just need to know if the holes through the trunk are in the same place. Thanks again.

Here is a link to my pictures, I hope this helps

The elbow rests are bolted on with three bolts, and the speakers with four bolts, I can't tell if there is a tab from the elbow rest extending under the speaker.

At first I thought you ment the full armrest, not the elbow rest, thats why I shot pictures of how these are mounted, My wife loves the wrap around feeling of these armrests and how easy they are to swing out of the way to get on.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the pics. They really helped. It looks like the spacing on the two bolts, near the hinges are the same as on my Aspy. My elbow rests have the two bolts coming out of the back portion of the rest assy itself. I bet that they used the same holes for the elbow rests, but for the LTD model, they added the two additional ones for the back part of the speaker to bolt through and then the front part of the speaker, bolts through the tab on the elbow rest. I'll find out for sure after I dismantle the trunk this weekend to replace the bottom. But at least I can get a little jump start on the machine shop to fabricate the piece that I'll need to make it work. Thanks again.
