Front running lights
I have an'84 gl1200I. My right front running light does not come on when the bike is running. I changed the bulb and it still does not come on. The turn signal and the emergency flashers do work. When I left work today, I found that I had left the switch on and my radio had drained the battery. I had some guys push me to jump start it. When it started I noticed that the running light was on. I took an hour and about 15 minute ride to charge the battery and when I got home, I got off and looked and found that the light was not on again. What could be the cause of this running light not working?

With a multimeter grounded to the battery, check the voltage at the socket. If you've got good voltage on the hot wire, check the ground and make sure that's good. I'd say it's either a bad ground, or the socket might not have good contacts in it.

This week I finally got around to putting my bike in the shop. I had recently had my speedometer cable break. I'm not as mechanically inclined as I'd like, so I took it to a Honda dealer to be repaired. They replaced the cable and found that the problem with my running light was caused by a defective turn signal swith, which had to be rebuilt. Thanks for your help and hope this info will come in handy for soneone else.
