1200 seat.......ouch, my butt hurts
The gell pads I had put in my seats were made by Butt Buffer, it made them a bit better but no where near what we want. The gel pads seem to work well for some people but I am not happy with the reslts, maybe I just have a butter butt or something.
Ride safe have fun and enjoy. Lane

On the trip we just took to Rapid City, South Dakota, we used our gel pads. At Wall Drug in Wall, SD the wife spotted a sheep skin she liked and we bought it. The gel pad with the sheep skin helps the stock seat. If I scoot the gel pad up towards the front leaving a 1-1/2 to 2 inch dip in the back under the sheep skin helps my back bone lots.

The gel pads were about $89.00 each and the sheep skin from Wall Drug was only $66.00.

Just thought I'd throw my experience out there... Big Grin
When in doubt, climb on, insert key, start, put in gear and RIDE...

Yep! There is only one (1) of them. They got their start when business was waning and the owners wife suggested they advertize out on the main road that "Wall Drug, had FREE cold water". It was all history after that! Yep, they made their claim to fame with only "free" cold water. For more information try "Googling" Wall Drug, SD. From what I was told when we bought the skins that they were offered online also. Give it a try. Big Grin

I think this relates to this thread without hijacking.....

Has anybody ever tried the air hawk seat cover?

It is an inflatable seat cushion that attatches to the stock seat.

Talked to a guy a few years back that had one, he swore by it.....

The gel pad I got was from KnoPlace Upholstery on eBay. It's too late to do anything else right now as we leave for two weeks on Thursday. Just have to tough it out, I guess, and stop every 100 km or so for a stretch.

I looked at them online but the price is prohibitive, especially getting it to Canada. Looks like a fine idea, though.

As I was heading out the door for Billings and the Wingding, I seen a airmattress pillow. I thought it might be of some help. WOW was I right.
I just put about 10% of the air it required and it made such a differance. My sheep skin over the top and it stayed in place no problem. I was able to run a full tank of gas out and not have any problem with pressure points. my next question is how long will it last? 2200 miles and still keeping my rear end comfy.

Meril, after about 1,200 km I'm looking for an air pillow. We're going to hit the camping stores tomorrow.

Thanks GL1200 for the link. Great info

There is a company called Thermarest. They make sleeping pads for back packing. They sell small square pads also for a very affordable price. I think between $25 and $40. They are very durable I havn't tried one on my bike, but they look promising. I actually own a small one, but I also have 4 kids and can not locate it at this time. When I do find my small thermarest camping pad, I'll post how it works.

I think that the medical supply companies make some of the best products. They are accustomed to making products to prevent bedsores, etc. That is big league stuff compared to a bunch of coffee guzzling, ice cream pounding bikers like us!!!!! Confusedhock: Confusedhock:

BTW, I lead the pack on the ice cream deal...... Big Grin
