Updated Poorboy Installation Instructions
a NAPA belt would be 25-030310,belt is 31.62 inches long
a Dayco belt from Advance should be 310K4 31.5 long,effective length 30.96
a Gates belt would be K030310,same as Napa belt
all manufacturers have similar lengths but not always exact,whatever your supplier i'd suggest getting 3 belts around same length,you can always make one trip to return leftovers,
if its a special order,ask about their return policy

Thanks all for your responses. I went with a gates 3 rib belt K030310 and works great. Have her almost all back together. :d Now only if it wasn't 17 degrees outside it would be great to go hit the road.

Just got my kit in the mail. Will be starting the conversion as soon as the ice storm melts away. My only suggestion so far would be maybe the actual "install instructions" be put in a more printer friendly format. As a computer guru it was no problem for me to print just the install instructions and pics but for someone maybe not quite as computer savvy having it in a Word document or some other format I am sure would be helpful. If anyone needs to know how to print just the part of the install instructions you actually need when doing the conversion I will be more than happy to walk you thru it. I am so excited to be installing this stuff. I cant wait to get it finished. One other thing that might be useful is a picture of the new kit that includes the new pulley with spacer actually made with it. Thanks Don for the FAST shipping!!!

One kinda imortant thing I had to do during the alternator install that I did not see mentioned in the instructions (I might have just overlooked it) was I had to grind almost down to the mounting hole on the top leg of the alternator to get it to bottom out against the mount and to line up with the crank pulley because the weld on the reinforcement plate was fairly thick. I have not finished the install but have had a chance to run bike for a few minutes with the alternator hooked up and it is great to see over 13 volts at idle with a battery that was not fully charged and to watch the volt meter jump to 14.5 on accelaration no matter how many lights I had on!

I have the same issue, thought it was just my work computer blocking the images but I checked on my iphone and the same no images. This seems to be an ongoing issue. I have seen various post that 1 day have pictures and the next day don't. They should be back up in a day or so though, just keep checking back. Folks get busy and sometimes forget things :mrgreen:

Ohh as a side note I found this picture of the geo alternator blow apart, hope this helps folks on the terminals and general knowledge.

neoracer,

Could you post or PM your copy of the original with pics? I'm one of those people who just can't understand unless there is a pic or video to go along.

I answer all emails & pms I receive.

You can go to <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://bobsold.goldwingfacts.com/alternator/alternator.htm">http://bobsold.goldwingfacts.com/altern ... rnator.htm</a><!-- m --> & view the text & instructions posted on my conversion. Poorboy

It is not showing as I have typed it. After the com/ it should be alternator/alternator.htm You have to type it in, the hot link will not work for some reason.
