How do I know if my fork springs are Progressives or stock
Changing fork seals and the springs (one each side) have tighter windings on one end. Every time I have installed Progressive springs on bikes in the past that is what they looked like. What do the stock ones look like. Also if mine are Progressives does any one know the amount of oil to add? thanks

The same amount as in normal spring - 323 ccl after draining or 345 ccl after disassembly.
If You have kompresor - with progressive spring - NO air pressure...

Different amounts of oils (ATF) are only in rear shock absorber: normal - 255 ccl; progressive - 100 ccl...

My 85 Interstate in stock confition has two springs in each fork tube; 1 short & 1 long (spring A & spring B, according to Honda microfiche), with a separator washer between the two springs. The Honda microfiche picture also shows a single long spring, but the parts breakdown doesn't list the spring. Dick Tracy would have a hard time figuring this one out!

An earlier post indicated the tighter part of the spring goes to the top of the fork.

My 1986 Aspencade 1200 SEi Special Edition came with progressive springs. The stock progressives have 57 coils and are 20" long. The aftermarket springs provided by Progressive Springs, have 51 coils and are also 20" long. So the difference is in the width between the wider coils. So, 57 coils (stock) 51 coils (Progressive Aftermarket)
